The brand
Takacat deserves a dedicated section because inflatable catamarans have become their own tender category and Takacat largely created the Australasian market for them. The open bow and open transom layout of the LX changes what a tender can do: you walk on and off it, dive from it, load a dog or a dive bottle into it, and drag it up a beach without a drama.
Takacat Australia maintains a full current range across LX, Sport, GO, Ultra Lightweight, LX-R and Predator RIB.
Our take
If boarding, stability and payload per kilogram matter more than outright ride comfort, the LX is the most practical cruising tender you can buy. The T220UL at around 14 kg is a category of one for older or solo sailors.
