The market
The inflatable catamaran has become its own tender category in Australia rather than a novelty. Two full-length tubes and a tensioned floor give exceptional stability, shallow draft and an open transom you can walk, dive, swim, load a dog or drag a crayfish pot through. The compromise is a different ride in short chop and a shape that will not suit every davit system.
What decides this purchase
- Open transom = the easiest re-boarding of any tender type, from the water or a beach.
- Payload per kilogram of boat is the category's headline advantage.
- Short-shaft outboards are usually required — check before buying the engine.
